My dau gave me a couple of turnips and encouraged me to give them one more try. She loves them. I do not. Does anyone have good recipes for turnips? I only have one big turnip left. (I put the other ones in a chicken pot pie.)

Not one of my first choice vegetables, but I'll do just about anything. The little baby turnips + greens are pretty good, I usually do a quick saute, usually with butter and garlic.
The big old storing turnips are one of those vegetables really improved by roasting for what seems like too long at too high of a heat. Preheat oven to 400 while you cube the turnips into reasonable consistent sizes, somewhere in the 1" cube/marshmallow size. Put on a roasting tray, sprinkle with oil (I usually use olive for flavor or avocado for not) and sprinkle with salt. Cook for at least 30 minutes, maybe up to an hour depending on what vegies you have/size you cut.
Carrots are a good combo with the turnips. I love the combos with all sorts of vegies, beets are awesome roasted.

Yes. I grew up on turnip and turnip greens. Turnips were cooked with the greens or put in pressure cooker and mashed like potatoes. Boiling gives a different firm texture. The pressure cooker makes them creamy like potatoes. We had leafy greens three or four times a week and always with turnips. My kids grew up eating turnips so they like them too.

I just discovered Hakurei turnips and yum! I've had them both raw in salad and added to a stir fry where I can't say what they added beyond bulk. There seem to be a few vegetables that carry the name "turnip" but they're quite different. In the winter, rutabagas (AKA winter turnips) are a favourite both for their versatility and long shelf life. Summer is different because there are so many other delicious options but we do like all the turnip-type root vegetables other than parsnips. Those, I like but my husband isn't a fan. Roasted in butter, seasoned, glazed - all good.

Though I am not sure I would waste them on turnips ...
... sorry, I have yet to develop any liking let alone loving for turnips!
Instead I leave them alone so that others can get their full enjoyment from them!!
That said ... give me most any other veggie ... I'm thrilled!!

neither of my children nor my hubby care for them so I seldom make it.
I know a lot mom and wives that do this. I never started it. LOL I cooked what i liked at meals and what he liked at other meals. Sometimes he ate a sandwich because he didn't like liver and onions but I loved it and made it often. Many times I ate tuna salad when I cooked his favorite peppers and sausages or spicy food. Don't ever put someone above yourself in missing out on food you like. Save that for things far more important to give up for. My kids as they got older ate more variety of foods I cooked by not being served only what meals their dad liked.
