I have been off nightshades for at least three years for my arthritis. I recently read an article from a creditable source that indicated I am losing too many nutrients doing so. I am willing to test them. I had a baked potato last week and had no issues. Today I will have an organic tomato. Peppers - no. I already know they are out for me. Eggplant - not a fan, so not a concern. If I can return to eating potatoes and tomatoes, moderation will be key - an occasional treat.

I am off wheat related gluten and that is not negotiable. That eliminates wheat, barley and two more I can't recall right now.

I usually pick up a tub of cherry tomatoes and leave them on the kitchen counter and pick one up to eat as I walk by from time to time. Love my tomatoes. Guess I'll have to decide which I love more.....spuds and tomatoes or no arthritis.
i'm with you! i grow my own tomatoes, as many heirloom varieties as i can find. i also grow and consume peppers ..not the hot ones (hubs doesn't "do" hot ) but only sweet spanish which i roast on bbq. i love pretty much all the things i'm not supposed to eat or drink. i have suffered from increasingly painful arthritis in hands, feet, back, knees yadayadayada for the whole of my adult life. diagnosed with four different kinds including osteo. oh well ..but i think that maybe i can be the dietary rebel that i am as i've gotten older, settled & grow own vegies, is because they are organic in the truest sense. absolutely no pesticides, herbicides etc. no commercial fertilizers either. compost & compost tea.
i also love cherry toms! i grow several varieties, pick in morning, put bowl on counter and need more next morning. we snack on them as if they were candy

Jan, have you tried Boswellia and or Curcumin for the arthritis. Both are anti-inflammatory herbal supplements. And yes, giving up the nightshades does help for lots of people.
