Default Recipe for Pasties???

Does anyone have a good recipe for pasties -- my mom used to make them in a large batch and freeze them and I would like to try my hand at making them (she didn't use a recipe -- unfortunately).
Thanks

Cornish Pasty

1 lb. chopped or ground steak, (nowadays, hamburger)
I med. size rutabaga, quartered and sliced thin
potatoes, peeled quartered and sliced
1 lg. onion chopped

Mix ingredients, add salt and pepper
Prepare pie crust
Roll out pie sized ball of dough, pile ingredients on half the circle, fold other half over and crimp edge. Bake at 350° until the smell drives you crazy and your stomach is growling.
PS., add a glob of butter on the pile of ingredients before folding dough over.

Sorry, this is a horrible example of a recipe, but after having and making these for a lifetime, no recipe used. Another hint is to use a bit of ground pork steak with the beef to add some "juice" to the mix.

My mother-in-law would make these...then my mom and I started doing this....we use round steak, pork roast, potatoes (all cut about same size) onion and carrots, salt and pepper. We also put a tab of butter b/4 folding over the side. My husband also likes canned beef gravy put on before eating it. All ingredients are same amount except for onions and, (of course) salt and pepper.

I need to try this. My husband might even eat this, if I put it into a taco shell. LOL

I make something like this but I make more of an empanada crust to encase the filling. Freezes well. I also use left overs and stuff them in the crust and serve with salad on days when I don't have any new ideas. I have even used left over curry and added a little bit of sweet chutney in the mix.

Thanks -- the Cornish pasty looks familiar. I think Mom added garlic powder as well. I'll give it a try.
