I personally hated sewing w/ knits but was easier w/a serger but sold it and my embroidery machine to focus soley on quilting w/a newer machine specifically for quilting.

42 x10 inch squares. You will lose 1/4 inch on all joinings. You could easily do a coordinating border w/one if the colors say 3-5 inches wide. Then use another of the colors for the binding.

It is best to pre wash a larger piece of backing fabric this will make for a better fitted back.I would not wash front cotton and not back as when the back shrinks in tbe first wash it will cause...

Have used Shout Color Catcher in wash w/good result. I put two in a small mesh laundry bag to orevent it clogging outlet hoses. I have also read vinigar or salt NOT good to use .
