I love your pink featherweight. She is adorable. I think I'm going to show my sweet and talented husband that table you had made. It's just right!!

For what it's worth, I would choose the 301A! I dream of having that machine!

I also have the 500A like Billy and it does sew like a dream. I only wish there was a 1/4" foot with a guide for it. I still can't sew a straight seam without one !

I bought a 1/4" foot with guide and a walking foot for my 401a--that will fit your 500a, too. I got them both on ebay for less than $20 each--make sure you only buy from someone with 100% rating. Look for the foot that will fit "slant" singer machines. The quarter inch foot and walking foot work great!

My favorite for piecing is the featherweight, for satin stitch it's the 401a, for machine quilting the 201, I still don't have the 301 cabinet ready so haven't used it much yet. I'm not much help, I love all my vintage singers.

So set it out where you can really use it a lot & you can then decide if you want to keep it. Use It ! you will love it ! It is a 221 model if it is a Featherweight. they are great stitchers to have for just straight stitching when you are using your newer machine for some zigzag features. they love to be used--not sitting in the case, especially when you have the painted one.

color me Green with envy ! not for the machine, but for the wonderful cabinet/table. It is the only Singer cabinet that I really covet. Someday I hope to own an original. I know there are kits & maybe I should break down & get one for DH to make and then I could enjoy it the rest of my years. smitty (owner/user of 201,221 (three), 301, 401, 15-91. my favorite is the 201.

just look for a 1/4" foot with guide for a slant shank machine. the Singer original zigzag foot is an excellent 1/4" and I don't even miss the guide. I broke the guide off my other 1/4" feet because it does not work well going over seams.
