Singer Futura VS. Brother
#22
After researching and researching, and researching some more, LOL! I'm going to go with the Futura. The software comes with it, and the Brother only does a 4x4.
BUT, I've still got a month or two before we order it, so they may come up with something better deal by then, LOL! At Christmas time they run a LOT of specials!

the Futura is a pain to work with. I used to sell them and I hated showing customers how to work them. You have to screw the embroidery hoop on and then make sure you did it right or it won't sew. They just aren't very well made.
The current crop of Singers isn't what a Singer should be.
The Vikings are a much better machine, more user friendly.

So, I've been cruising on there and here's what they have:
A Singer Futura 150- $699
Singer Futura 250- $799
Brother SE400- $499
They also have a Brother for $799 that is an embroidery machine only, but I want one that does both.
I'm leaning towards the Brother right now, because of the price, obviously. BUT, I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get the Futura, as it seems like it has MUCH more to it. And it has great reviews.
The monthly payments are about the same, I'd have one extra payment with the Futura.
Is the Futura that much better? I'd love to hear from anyone who has any of these.

While you are considering the Futura you should be aware that you must be connected to the computer in order to do the embroidery. To some people that is not possible. That being said, I am also a happy owner of a CE250. I haven't had any problems with it or any difficulties learning to use it. On the other hand I have never tried out any other machine so I don't have anything to compare it with. One of my friends put out a load of cash on a Viking and she hasn't used it to even a quarter of it's potential and wonders how I do what I do with my little cheap machine. I tease her that if I paid that much for a sewing machine I would be scared to use it!:)

Unfortunately, Singer does not have the reputation they once did. If you're going to spend $800 I would do a lot of research before you buy.
Here's a web that you can get a lot of sewing/embroidery machine reviews from actual owners. It's been extremely helpful to me:
www.sewing.patternreview.com
If you look on the left side of their Home page you'll see a link to sewing machine reviews.
Hope this helps :)

That will limit you greatly!

Don't mean to discourage you just letting you know my experience buying a sewing machine from a home shopping channel.
