I have "adopted" my cousin. JoAnn lives about 700 miles away in Mi. Am looking forward to exchanging ideas, her Dad was and art teacher, she should have some cool ideas.

I currently have a group of 6 "newbies" and they are getting so good I almost don't feel needed anymore! LOL All I do is pieceing, I can bind quite well and have done some applique. I am in Mi and would LOVE to help someone.

Someone please adopt me. I have been sewing for many years. My first quilt was a crazy quilt that my Mother in Law started and I finished. But it was tied.

I've tackled my second quilt - a king size bed quilt for my sister. Talk about diving in .... Anyway - I constructed it in pieces, machine quilting each section as I went. I'm down to the last section to attach - but have no idea on binding. I have named the quilt the Lessons of Life quilt. Pay attention to all the love that went into it and forgive the mistakes.

I love to learn and am ready to start from the beginning. - I live in SE Michigan

Check out this blog. She has hundreds of free videos for free motion quilting designs. The only way to master FMQ is thru lots of practice. I made a bunch of practice quilt sandwiches and spent time getting used to how my machine "feels".

Annette,
Which blog has free videos for free motion quilting?
Thanks,
Rilene

I asked on here for a Mom back in July but didn't get one :-( -Anyway I reckoned it would be good to have someone physically near (I'm in the UK) and now have eventually persuaded my friend Hilary (who I never knew was an accomplished quilter) to adopt me. I have now done my first 3 blocks and have decide to record our progress and share the lessons she has given me on our website and blog so others can benefit. I'll be showing the process we take step by step and will also put photos of my progress on here.
My first lesson is up now http://www.makeitandmendit.com/2010/...ilting-lesson/

How do I find the Barn Quilt topic? There doesn't seem to be a search facility.
