It makes a great childs play quilt. I thought you planned it that way. Looks great.

It is really lovely. Do not know what you did, but whatever it was the quilt came out looking as if it were those freezer ice pops that yolu buy in the stores. LOVE IT!

the idea is great. Results are wonderful. I love to create something unique from something so common. I think it is beautifull and if you tried...could you do it again.

I think it's cool, haven't made one yet, but would be happy if I made one that looked like this!

when you finish a row on the quilt, you reverse direction and alternate sides ... colors will not be together ... way to be sure is check before you sew and change accordingly

Did you cut off the 28" on the first strip before you got started?? I did one also; first i laid out all the same colors together, than went from light to dark, than took the first strip and cut off the 28" and than took a strip from one pile at a time and added it onto the next. Second after they were all together I cut the 102" in half sewed these two strips together, than folded in half again and sewed those four together (ect,) never came out with any together like yours. But I like yours - it will be great as a kids play quilt. just think of all the different things that kids can come up with while playing on it.

Mine did this too. Yours is prettier than mine is though. :)

Here's mine. :( http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-122254-1.htm

Don't know if this would help, but when I made one of mine I noticed that 'like strips' were starting to run together. So I 'matched' the ends of the strip, found the center fold at the other end of the strip, cut the strip at the fold, rotated the ends and sewed the strip. It helped.

I hope that made sense.

Forgot to add:
When making another JR quilt, in addition to cutting 28" off the first strip - I also cut about 3 other of the strips in half sporatically as I assembled the strips. That helped, too.

Another neat idea when making one of these is to pick a coordinating color to match your strips (I picked a burnt orange for mine) and at the end of every strip sew a short strip (mine were 2 1/2" so it would be square in the finished quilt) and it adds a new personality to your JR quilt. I'll try to find a picture but can't promise - I gave that quilt away.

But bottom line - unless you use all different strips, no repeats, it's bound to happen.

Forgot to say, I really like the way yours turned out.
