Some people are very organized and the do all the cutting then piece all the blocks, then assemble the rows. I cut a little, sew a little, assemble a little, as I go along. Keeps it from getting too monotonous.

I start to follow the pattern, but then my DH usually has "suggestions". Sometimes they work and sometimes I have to explain it to him why it wont work. Funny, while I appreciate his involvement in my hobby, I don't critique his fishing.

I start with a pattern but from time to time change it as I go.

I use a pattern like I would a recipe. Get the basics from it and add or delete what I don't want. Sometimes it turns out delicious, and sometimes, well, the dogs eat well.

I never follow patterns - I make it up as I go - those are my favorites!
