Once you're done with chickens and barns, you may want to get started on the wintery swaps...

Snowmen in Winter blocks are due 10/30, come join us there too!

    Cute!

    Some brainstorming thoughts:

Maybe use a "wallpaper" or "sky" type print for the background instead of the muslin?
Could add the suggestion of a table to the bottom. . .

Narrow down your cup opening. It is not proportional to me. Then the rooster might look better than it does right now. Then I would put it like the sun with little triangles around the rooster so it would show morning and the crowing going on as you say. I do like the table idea as well but make it a lighter brown to show the difference instead of spilled coffee under the cup.

When I first looked at the top block, I thought it was a watering can with a rooster -- if it had a spout, it would look like that. As a cup ... I like the idea of adding a "table" at the bottom. I love the chicken fabric, by the way.

I like QuilterMomma's idea! I also like the idea of the sky as part of the background! It will be interesting to see what you come up with lovngrandma.

Glad that you're feeling a little better!

I think if you used the rooster fabric for the cup and white solid for the handle and inside of the cup at the top. this would be easier to make and come into a quick turnaround for you. Then you wouldn't need the mug rug on the "table" or the split background fabric to give it interest. The mug would be the center of attention on a medium colored background.
