If you go through the needle charts on ISMACs, one of the charts, shows by brand name, who the actual manufacturer. Yesterday I looked at a badged Western Electric that is clone of the Windsor B, I just acquired. They were both built by Eldredge/National Sewing Machine. OTOH I believe I've seen other Western Electric machines of later manufacture. You should look for a model designation, or at least post a picture.

I wouldn't think a Western Electric machine would be a rebadged Japanese machine. Can you post a picture of it?

According to Ismacs, Western Electric were badged Nationals from the Teens and Twenties. They were one of the early electrics on the market and the Western Electric name was replaced with "Graybar". No information given whether the WE badge was used on Clones.
