The later Touch and Sew machines have snap on feet, so you might see if the slant shank presser foot holder from one of them works on the 401, and if so, whether you can get the sort of snap on zipper foot you are looking for.

There's a good chance I'm wrong but as far as I know the Singer snap-on feet for Touch & Sews are more narrow compared to generic snap-on feet.
I don't think they'll interchange.

I bought mine new in 1958 and have never had a problem with the zipper foot that came with it. It has always done a beautiful job for me.

I got mine at a local bicycle shop. Some have said that Ace Hardware has it.

What you need is not another zipper foot, it's another sewing machine! heehee! One that you can switch to just for zippers! Ahahahah! I am such an enabler!
