Sometimes it's just plain worth the time to hand baste the zipper in before trying to sew it.

If a machine does not have a walking foot (or IDT) - I think there is usually some moving of the layers of the fabric when inserting a zipper.

I'm fairly sure i'm late to this posting party. LOL but i cruised ebay the other day and i found this auction while i was looking for something else. Maybe it could help? It's an auction for a snap on foot adapter for slant shank machines http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-SLANT-Sh...item27e3b082ab

I also need to find an invisible zip foot.
Hand basting is recommended anyway isn't it?

All the unique invisible zipper feet I've found have had slant shank adaptors.

I've put in quite a few zippers with my 401a and 411g and had no problems.

Only with the Singer feet. Rodney's right, they don't interchange.

The catalog should tell you where you click for details - there might even be a number on the bulb. You could always remove the bulb and take it to a sewing machine shop and they might be able to fix you up.
