I found a couple "make up" totes, at a yard sale, got both(small and a larger one) for a $1, and that's what I use, actually gave the smaller one away and use the larger one for quilting stuff.

I use hinged tins-- they keep scissors from poking through & keep all secure

the tote that I carry my sewing machine in has side pockets that I put those things in. When I buy from clinique they send my order with a pouch.. I use those for little items and put those in the side pocket of my sewing machine tote Maybe I don't take as much with me as some others do????

I use the pockets in my machine tote also. You can get those pencil boxes for $1. They should hold enough of your small notions for a class

I got a couple of notebook zipper bags last year at Walmart in August when school supplies came out. They are out of a heavy duty fabric with a clear plastic window. Love them. Wish I got more of them.

I put mine in a plastic shoe box. It's clear so I can see inside easily.

I use a tool bag that I purchased in the tool dept because they are less expensive than purchasing from the sewing dept.
