Turns out I didn't use buttonhole- although you could. What I did was take a long piece of fabric, sewed seams and turned, pressed, then sewed both sides, leaving a slot opening for my belt.

Thank you for giving the full url for that. When I posted it, I didn't intend for it to come up as a "click-on" but that's what machines do for us! Hope it gives some an idea for creating. I think a little pocket on the side would be nice--something to slide an id into or whatever?? Would be a safety factor if using it while bike riding or hiking.

(I love your board name--it would be a real withdrawal for me!)

I thought about magnets, but wondering if they will ruin your phone? Most phones are a mini computer...

I made one a few years ago now from a pattern on some sewing/crafty website. I thought I had bookmarked it and was going to pass it along but have yet to find it. But, what I modified the pattern to was to add a loop at the top of the back and purchased a 'clip'. I placed the loop fabric through the ring portion of the clip so that I can just clip the case to my belt loop. It's large enough for my phone and the pattern also called for a zippered portion on the front for credit cards, etc. It is my 'go to' wallet/phone case. I only use a purse when at formal-ish functions - never on a daily basis. And usually just carry cash in my pocket so rarely even use this as my phone usually fits in my back pocket. But it does live in my car as I now have my license and a few other necessary cards.

If I can figure out the website where I got the free pattern I'll happily post it as there were many great items/patterns.

I have seen a pouch made that had suspender clips attached that clamp on the waist band of your jeans. It's on my diy list for one day.

I would be so happy if someone could recommend a good pouch that attaches to jeans or whatever for a cell phone. Thanks very much

I made an eyeglass holder that fit my phone and added a cross-body strap so that I can wear it around the house. I only do that when I'm expecting a call though.

That is a great idea to use the clips, thank you.
