    I would work on it and think of it as you working with your grandmother. I'm sure she would be so happy that you 'fixed' her issue and are able to finish and enjoy her gift. Such a treasure for you to have found it and have the skill to finish it.

    If you love it, fix it and use it. If you don't love it, don't finish it. When I acquired a friend's mom's UFO's, I realized that some were not finished because they weren't good enough to finish. I finished or had several finished for my friend but the ones that were off. I passed on to others who might like to finish them.
