We just bought new washer and dryer. DH insisted on gas which they don't carry in the store....so we waited a few extra days to get it shipped in. Electric cost more to operate. Seller said more people prefer electric. And we did pay a bit more for the gas unit.

I love heating and cooking with gas. That being said, I always use an electric dryer. I buy on a size bigger than my washer so that it does dry faster. When I bought my new one a few years ago it was the first time that my clothes gets dry before the washer is done.

Love my electric. Wouldn't give it up for anything.

Our first electric dryer, an inexpensive Kenmore, lasted for the life of three washers, but I washed cloth diapers and often used the solar dryer (clothes lines).
Yep, it was cloth diapers in our house, too, and having an outdoor clothesline was a must for me, because of the cloth diapers.

I've always had gas dryers so really have no experience of electric dryers. Gas is so much cheaper here.
