All the Goodwill stores I've been too have everything price so high you can get it new for not much difference....not any deals this way but sure am glad your hubby found this 'gem' for you sewnbug!

The last two sewing machines I saw there looked to have seen much better days but were priced so high I couldn't consider either anyway. I like to support good causes but the Goodwill here is making it challenging.

You got a bargain! The thrift shops in my area seriously overprice sewing machines. On a recent visit, I actually pointed out to them that the basic brother they had priced at $150, which did not even have the electrical cord/foot pedal, sells at walmart for less than $100. Vintage machines are usually in the $200-300 range. They only recently started selling yardage, but most of it is $5 a yard or more. Obviously no one there sews. :/

That's not a deal; it's a STeal!! Congratulations on this find. I wonder as we see more stores closing their doors if we might see a rise in the prices at thrift shops. As always, it pays to know the going price when looking for a bargain and you never know that you might stumble onto one such as this. Wow!

Holy cow!! Even though I'm a Janome girl, I would have scooped that one up also to use as a back up, or would have given it to a family member. At that price, you can't go wrong!

We have a Goodwill nearby that never puts out fabric. But, about 4 miles away there is a huge veterans thrift store who has fabric by the yards. It is my "go-to" place.

Oh my!! I’ve pretty well stopped shopping at Goodwill due to their overpricing. And I only donate to thrift stores that mostly are church based. That being said, I followed my husband around some Pawn shops a couple years ago and came across a Featherweight at $129. I looked and thought that’s worth it but didn’t buy it. I and still kick myself (hard to do at my age). Congratulations on your find and good luck with the Viking. I have two (the same machine in two different places) and love the machines.

It's probably been sitting in a closet for a long time. Get it oiled well and it will sew wonderfully.

I don't have a Good Will close to me and Salvation Army doesn't accept sewing machines. You got a Fantastic Christmas deal. Enjoy...
