FW's are great!
Check out the Featherweight Shop for anything you might need and lots of instructional videos.
I take mine to classes and sew days and it never lets me down.

Last week I saw a FW at a nearby flea market for $325. The case was beat up but the machine looked good. Decals in great shape. I have one already so I was not interested in getting another.

It came today!!!!!!!!! It's so danged cute, everyone who's seen it was charmed. So. Tiny. Eeeek!

The foot to plug to wall wiring is totally crumbling, and I am replacing it now. The wiring inside the machine looks ok, I'll see how it runs. It's a 1950 221-1. It has the bobbin case, and everything looks good, except it is pretty dirty. Lots of fuzz underneath, and dust on top. Not sure if it has every attachment, but it has a box of stuff. It does have the completely adorable original oil can, and the obligatory tube of official Singer lube. It needs one new rubber foot right now, and I will replace all four.

And it came with 7 or 8 packages of Scarlet bias binding.

If you need me I'll be in the garage alternately working on the wiring and squirming in happiness.

I'm glad it came on one piece, and with oil and lube too. Have fun.

Default Congratulations

Congratulations on your new acquisition.

What are Featherweights going for these days on average? I understand it's a range, depending on condition. You used to be able to find one with wear on it for $150 or so and the nice ones would sometimes sell as high as $400. (222s were off the charts) I've been out of touch for the last couple of years and wonder if they've gone up or down in price.

Glad she arrived safely! Are you going to name her scarlet since she came with scarlet binding?

They seem to be available at auction for between $300 and $400 including shipping and all that. I'm still waiting to find on at a garage sale for $20. lol. Same on Craigslist here in Sacramento.
