I stocked up on Bosal 2 1/4 " pre cut batting strips for these right after covid lockdown. For some reason JoAnn had the 50 yard Bosal Katahdin pre cut strips packages marked 60% off online but not the regular 25 yard size packages. I bought a lot of them! I made many of the JR rugs for Christmas gifts that year. I saw a fabric red white and blue print rug that looked liked a JR rug in a boutique type home store. It had a $169 price tag. The tag said cushion comfort, long lasting, completely washable. I told my daughter who was with me that was a fair price for an individual to make and sell one rug. $40 for quilt shop quality fabric JR, $30 for batting strips, thread to blend, time and labor would come to about $85 or more. Good price for bespoke rug.

I watch the video before starting a new project to refresh my memory. For the JR rug, I watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8xblarkuBg&t=1023s. I actually stop after 2 times around the "racetrack" and iron both sides flat. Then wait impatiently a few minutes for it to cool before moving back to work. The first rug had utility fabric (bumpy gripper fabric) sewn into place on the bottom. However, I used hot glue last week to attach the non-skid on the bottom of one, and it's working great. I also repurposed the liners that had been in the pantry into rug undersides.

I cut out the non slip rug backing to fit the rug. I left it separate and the rug stays in place. When it wears out I have the non slip mat to use again.

I bought the pattern when it first came out but have yet to make it! Every time I see someone post a picture that’s when I want to make it but obviously I don’t. Maybe soon I will. Thanks for the inspiration Teen and aashley333 they look great.
