I am purchasing for myself a new cutting mat. Today is Martelli's Open House in Pensacola so, I may run by there to see if they are doing their 50% off sale. Of course, if I do their mat, I will have to do their cutter and blades. DH usually gives me a gift certificate to the local Quilt store. Now, all I need is time.

I know I won't be getting any Christmas presents, quilt related. They know I already have everything!
I did see something I'm keeping an eye on, on Amazon. It's one of those folding wagons people use to carry their stuff at workshops and meetings. I will probably buy it for myself!

If buying something for myself counts, I just bought two quilt pattern books off Amazon. This one (Quilting through the Year) has a really beautiful sunflower quilt pattern that I wnat to make. The second book had a log cabin patter that I liked. I'lll get these before Thanksgiving, but can be working on one of the quilts over Christmas.

Does anyone take their own chair to retreats and sewing days?
My back and shoulders often bother me, even more so after sitting in a chair that has no padding and does not swivel to the side.
The padding was solved easily enough by taking a cushion, meant for long distance car travel. But that didn't help with turning to the side to use a small pressing station. So I added the gadgets that go on the bottom of the chair legs, tennis ball mounted on rollers, basically. The chair kept slipping off of it. Not enough to dump me, but enough that it wasn't efficient at all.
Between the two, I've spent as much as an inexpensive task chair would cost, so am considering asking for that. But is it a hassle to get in and out of the car? I'm afraid it will be... And then, I think I don't want to spend money on even more that is kind of a "make do" and think I should get a small sewing chair, like the Arrow chairs.

There are five books titled Quilting Through the Year. Which one has the sunflower pattern?
