terri- glad Serena is doing well.
Sewbiz- the liver has great restorative powers, unlike some of our other organs (pets included as you know). Glad you found out what you need to proceed.
Janice, my grandboy just turned 4 and grand girl just turned 6. Such fun ages! But where does the time go? I kept telling my son to stop feeding them haha. Growing too fast to suit me!! Arden has already lost 4 teeth.
At the teacher conference they told her parents she loves crafts. YAY!! Mark was excited to tell me that.

Terri, good news about Serena. Hope she is prepared to rest and heal for a little while. Congratulations on your grandson’s scholarship. Amazing!
Susie, yes, grands grow up so fast! Here the oldest is already nearly 6 and it seems like yesterday when I held her right after she was born. What happy days they were when they were born.

I've been down this road before, with dogs' end-of-life days. The puppies seem so wonderful, but in a blink they are 10, or past... and I find myself wondering "Why did I do this to myself again?" The pain is terrible. It hurts just seeing him so different from how he was just a year ago. The vet said he may be walking better after another of his monthly injections, or two. I hope so! His "Help Em Up" lifting harness is supposed to arrive today. That should make it easier to help him.
Hav, I failed to mention your great fussy cutting on my Christmas block! Little Santa faces poke out of pieces in the most perfect way. Thank you.
Soon, very soon, our blocks will be coming home to us! Yay! Can't wait to see them all in person.

Glad everyone and the pets are doing well. Those grandkids do grow so fast. My twins (4) aren’t babies anymore and my oldest is graduating from high school!
I’m sewing Christmas pot holders all week to give away as gifts to various tennis people. I’ll have a lot of rainy time to get sewing done. I pulled out all my Christmas fabric. I’ve got to figure out a few for those who don’t celebrate Christmas.
I sent my package off and should arrive Monday. Sent the tracking to Janice. I didn’t send much of a note in it because I wanted to get the package off! I really enjoyed increasing my piercing skills and being creative with the applique. It was fun. I hope to do the next boom. Thanks to all of you for being a wonderful boom group and special thanks to Janice who keeps the whole thing organized, checks on us to make sure all is well and makes the boom happen. I really appreciate you!

SBG, I’m right there with you on the late stages of pet life. How many times we’ve been through it, 10 at least and yet we open ourselves up to the heartache again. And a year ago we took on Ernie, now 14 and a half! Well, we’ll just love him and take what comes.
mjp, I see your package is in transit. Woo hoo! Pretty florals might be nice for the non-Christmas folk. How can you go wrong either way flowers?
Off to pick up the girls. We’re meeting their parents half way and exchanging cars so we’ve got the car seats along with the girls.
Have a good evening!

So much news from you all! May everyone's health stay strong, and may everyone's furr babies have solutions to their problems that does not impact our fabric budget!
I am still on track to get my blocks to you by the 21st, Janice! They may be in the mail tomorrow morning. Fingers are crossed. If not Saturday, then Monday.
When I am too exhausted to sit at my sewing machine, I'll try to post my parade of finishes.Everyone's fabrics are a joy to play with. Thank you for the welcome distraction. Forcing myself not to do anything but sew is a great stress releasing mechanism.

And here it is—my final Boom Block! Funny how this one ended up being my favorite of the whole swap. I originally thought I’d have to apologize for how simple it was because I wanted the focus to be on the words. I carefully planned it, cut it all out… and then completely forgot it was on point. The corners didn’t line up, so I improvised—added the red, recut the center, turned it on point the other direction, and added the sides. Sometimes our “oops” moments end up being the best surprises. I absolutely love how it turned out! ❤️
This one's for LStew. Hope you like it. So thankful I got the words. I love the challenge of directional fabric. Thank you for the extra large cut. It was the only way I could cut to get the words in all the same direction.

Love your Halloween quilt, Lstew! I see my block. It's the eyeball trying to escape...
WMUT, you have admirable self-control, where that fruitcake is concerned. Bravo!
I took Marty to the vet today and he's got really bad arthritis in one hip. Arthritis all over. The vet says he's in pain. Also huge lipomas. The vet has been trying to get me to do a liver test on Marty for a while, but I have held out because it's pricey. But I
have scheduled it for Thursday. The vet thinks he has liver disease. He has to be fasted all day tomorrow and tomorrow night, then on Thursday they give him a fatty meal (at the vet's) and do blood draws every two hours to see how well his liver is working. The outcome of the test will let the doc know how to treat Marty for his other ailments. And he will probably go on a special diet for liver failure after that. Pricey special diet, that is. But Marty is worth it! Thanks for your prayers for Marty.

Love your last block HAV.
Today was our last full day on the island. We went to the Birding center today to walk the boardwalk. Saw a few of the majestic herons, they are so sleek and smooth. It was interesting watching one catch his breakfast, when he extended his neck you could watch the fish go down sideways. Then there were the pelicans, about 6 of them were fishing for breakfast, they looked graceful flying but they ram their head into the ocean and believe me there is nothing graceful about it. Sounded and looked like someone doing a belly flop. There was a nice alligator display but not my cup of tea, hubby enjoyed it. Rest of the day was pretty mellow a little shopping, lunch contained no sea food, but dinner was blackened fish that was seasoned perfectly and so light it darn near melted in your mouth. The chef was so happy when I personally thanked him. It’s been fun but I will be ready to head home tomorrow. We will stop in Brownsville at the gulf shrimp outlet to bring back shrimp for our shrimp boils in Minnesota. That place smells so fishy it literally gags me and that’s while I’m sitting in the car with the air on, but it tastes wonder.
Tomorrow our granddaughter Serena is having surgery on her thyroid, she is asking for prayers and good thoughts. Hoping for only good news.
Take care.

Marty's home. I bought him a new, bigger, squishier bed and he won't go anywhere near it. But I have a few tricks up my sleeve. The vet determined Marty has 60% liver function. He said that's treatable with special food and liver support meds. He said God gave us all way more liver than we actually need. Marty will be fine with 60%. Now we just need to get his pain from arthritis under control. I hope he uses the new bed because it will help him be more comfortable when he's down. But the bills! I had to pay half today and the other half next month. Senior dogs are expensive. But I'll get him whatever he needs.
Yeah Marty, so glad for the good news.
WMUT I have gone shopping several times to add browns to my stash and have gone home empty handed. But now it gives me something to look for when we stop at quilt stores!
Serena is resting comfortably after surgery. Doctor said surgery went well and they didn’t have to take her entire Thyroid.
Grandson accepted a scholarship at the University of South Dakota for next year. Funny his sister is in college in North Dakota.

Thank you from Marty! His lift harness arrived today and I put him in it. And today he let me put him on his new bed, and it was so comfortable he promptly fell asleep and slept for about 3 hours! So, there’s some progress happening. I wish he would eat more food. He seemed to like his Rx food, just doesn’t eat much of it. I really appreciate all the thoughts, prayers and encouragement from all of you.

Sewbiz and everyone, the only way I can rationalize the pain of elder pet care, end of life, etc is that it's the price we pay for having our wonderful pets who bring us so much joy for many years. Same with people we love. They are worth the pain. Just my 2 cents. That's the only way I can deal with loss.
