I did it!! I finished all the blocks for my 30's top!! 49 Lemoyne Stars, 36 alternate 81 patch blocks (each block made up of 9 nine patches), 24 half blocks for the sides and 4 corner blocks. BTW the blocks finish at 9 inches. What was I thinking!!! Total piece count...drum roll please....4,880 and that is before sashing and cornerstones!! Putting this thing together will have to wait for a wee bit. I need a break!

    Thanks for hosting Raggiemom.

    LGJARN52--glad Fern is helping you!

Quiltah Mama--you've been busy So happy your mojo has returned.

mkc--sorry you went backwards today Hope you at least had something good to watch on tv while you were picking.

Although not quilting related, I did have a productive day. Got all the tax paperwork located, scanned and uploaded for the accountant. Cleaned out the food pantry and organized it. So I'll be all set to work in my sewing room tomorrow.

    Awww - thank you!

I've never had a quilt that I started and finished without picking out at least the first quilting attempt. This one might be a record, though . I did have some good TV distraction, though. I watched/listened to several episodes of America's Test Kitchen, including one featuring shrimp risotto. And so that's what I made for dinner.

I'm late joining. Maybe March I'll get in on the whole thing.

It started on Thursday: guild member sale to reduce stash. She's 80 y/o and wanting to down size,
Saturday went to quilt show. Very nice and great vendors.

New business idea: helping declining/aging quilters and their families clean out stash. Business owner pays low price, sorts and prices for sale. She had 5" strips that will be great for Laura Heine quilt.

Today finished parts for finishing Bonnie Hunter quilt.

Tomorrow, students will come. I'll be able to finish my project.

Quiltah Mama - from a slump to mass production!

Decided to sew the applique petals down on a quilt and am using 100 wt thread. Wish I would have used Aurifil. Every time I use the thread cutter, thread pops out and needs to be rethreaded. With my eyes watering from allergies and that thin of thread, it's a nightmare. So am going old school and manually cutting the thread plus I'm having some breckage. I will say you can't see the stitches but not sure it's worth it.
Cam's Gram; The concert was a success. We did get a standing ovation, but then again, we always do. Our audience is always enjoys our performances.
    Lena1952 - I'm glad your feeling better.
WMU - I hope you feel better soon.

I was able to get some sewing in for this VQW even though Saturday was very busy for me with the dress rehearsal and concert. It was a rainy day yesterday so a perfect day for getting some sewing done. I have all the rows completed on my top, so I just need to assemble them. I am going to use Ernestine for that (my 66 treadle).

Raggieom - Yuck tax paperwork. Have to do ours yet.
GingerK - Wowser! All those pieces. Can't wait to see the finish product.
LGJARN52 - So glad Fern is settling in

Really have never done much appliqe so this is a learning process for me. When I started with 100 wt thread, had some trouble so make some changing in my sewing machine. Well undid they today and it is going so much better. Had increased the foot pressure and when I changed it back, can use the automatic thread cutter and the pucker of the piece stopped. So much easier sewing,

Our long weekend celebrates Family Day here in BC, so decided to go for a long walk, and now enjoying some slow stitching with a mug of ginger peach tea.

Cam's Gram--glad the applique went better today.

It was a good day here. Prepped both cotton applique and wool applique projects. And my husband fixed the toilet in my basement sewing room . Now I don't have to go back upstairs all the time! Overall it has been a very productive weekend for me, both house stuff and quilting stuff. I hope you all have had great weekends as well.

Thank you Heather for hosting Had a great sewing weekend. Finished the three tops today I had all cut, (the blue and pink owl and butterfly print) I also found a FQ bundle of baby print I forgot I even had. I received it for volunteering at our local state quilt show a few years ago. I got it out and cut it into blocks to go with some flannel I have that will work for the backing. I was able to get 12 baby size fronts sewn this weekend. I already have backs for all of them, so now onto quilting and finishing them.

GingerK, great accomplishment, can't wait to see the finished product.

Looks like the sewing machines were just a singing along this weekend. Until next VQW, enjoy.
