I had put myself on fabric restriction 6 months ago but had to go to Joannes today for some border and backing fabric and was totally shocked at the shoddy quality of even the most expensive quilting fabric!! About 90% of my quilting is for charity but that doesn't mean that I want to give them an inferior quilt. I'm shopping from my stash from now on and it will take a desperate need or an outstanding coupon to get me into a Joannes again.

    Both

I hate Joann's here the clerks are rude, you can stand in line forever. If we had another fabric store in town they would run Joann's out of business in a heartbeat. I only go there as a last resort.

I support my local quilt shop when it comes to fabric, however I use Joann's coupons for batting, thread and other notions. Ny local quilt shop is really not local, (20 miles away) but its worth the trip.

I visited JoAnn's last week while I was on vacation in Orlando. I found it very disappointing, not much in the line of good quality fabric.

I'm sorry to hear so many of you say you are unhappy with your local JoAnn's store. PLEASE - e-mail or call the corporate offices and complain strongly. The company cannot improve service, goods, or staff if they don't know they have a big problem and are losing customers. Yes, I am an employee of The Woodlands/Conroe, TX store, and I am proud of my store and staff. Wish you all could come shop with us and see what a JoAnn's store should be. Thanks for reading. Happy Quilting!

This has nothing to do with the good sold in JoAnn's but I have a real beef with the fact that they don't have restroom facilities.
Well, actually, the one in Easton has them and you used to be able to get a key from an employee and use them, but now they say the state forbids that. Don't know about the one in Dover. Any Dover, DE ladies out there? I have a problem with that. Every other fabric store or LQS I have been to (as well as grocery store and department store) have restroom facilities.
I think it's because they store merchandise in the bathrooms and it's connected to that.

dixiechunk: My small store is small and no stockroom. We put fabric/mdse wherever we can-but NOT in our restrooms. Can't imagine a state saying you can't give a restroom key out. Think you're right that they are using it for other things.

Wow, mine has 2 bathrooms. They just put in the second one recently. It's very nice.

My JoAnn's isn't bad. Lots of quilting fabrics. I like the clearance area especialy when they have a 50% off clearance- I can get nice fabric for $2-3 a yard. I stock up on thread when it's 50% off.

I don't like the fact that over 1/2 the store is Michael's type stuff.

I have stumbled across a rude clerk occassionally but I report them the manager immediately.

I tend to shop the sales and use coupons mainly. Especially the 10% off the entire purchase. I have noticed a lot of the coupons are for 50% items not on sale and find everything is on sale...so I hand my coupon to someone who has a cart full of stuff.

I don't like my local Hancock fabrics. They have the rude and unknowledgable people. When I got my embroidery machine I was looking for tear-a-way stablizer and the lady kept trying to sell me fusable interfacing.

If you don't have one near you, don't bother wasting the gas. Mine is just across the street from work so it's convienent.

We have 2 JoAnn's. One is 5 min from my house and the other is 22 miles. I only buy my batting/and thread usually. Most of the time I get my fabric from Connecting Threads, (which I love); sometimes I will bite my lip and go to one of the Local Quilt shops in town. We have 4. All fabric in Local quilt stores here is $10.99 + a yd.
