I took a sampler course at my LQS when I started - learned a lot.

You also meet other quilters at these classes and if you are lucky like I was you meet a "sewing buddy".

Welcome from Michigan! I started quilting a few years ago and received all my help from this site. It's sad, but I even needed help threading my machine. Start with something simple and you'll be fine.

Welcome to the board I taught myself with books from the library and then took some classes. Once you get started you will not stop

Welcome from Conroe Texas. There are so many tutoials on u tube you should not need a book. Pick something with all straight lines and you should be okay. Look at the bottom of the page under tutorials.

Welcome - yes if you can measure a scant 1/4" you can quilt.
