Thanks, OK. Any encouragement is appreciated! :-)
I've got the sashes between the blocks now, and top and bottom for the three columns, which I plan to quilt separately, then attach together. Next the vertical sashing for between the columns.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer in the northern hemisphere and if any one is down under, summer will come soon. I have been a little UA from the board for a month or so, I did have a valid reason. Mine and my DH's last Scottish fair to help run, is now officially in the books! That is one stress I will not miss, this year it was a 2 day free entry event so we hoped to make money by selling more food and beer. With luck we broke even, would be nice if we made some money to help retire some of the old debit. We have been doing this for many years and its time to let younger blood and healthier bodies take over.

When I had some time I did get a non-quilting UFO done, and it wasn't even mine. A friend who graciously loans us the use of their cabin in Wisconsin will be celebrating their daughters wedding in less than 4 weeks. They are planning on having some guests and family over to the cabin after the wedding, and she needed to finish some curtains that she started about 13 years ago for the second bedroom. Lori has Fibro and gets tired easily plus she was stressing over getting everything done so I volunteered to finish them. First time for making roman shades but I figured out what she was doing and got them finished on Thursday. So we zipped over for a last cleaning weekend and while the guys painted, Lori mulched and cleaned windows, I hung curtains. Forgot to take a picture but will next time I am over. Now to make my table runner don't know if I can get it done before the end of the month, but will try.

Congratulation to all who finished something this month.

Default Finally! 2 UFOs done for July

    Hey all,
Here are 2 UFOs that I finally managed to get finished. They are both wall art quilts. The first one was an experiment using the felting attachment on my PQ1500s, then I layered it with some hand painted batting and squares of scrap fabric for backing then lightly quilted it before appliquéing it to the white background which was then sandwiched with Hobbs 60/40 and quilted all over. It's bound using white rattail.

The second one was an experiment in layering home dec fabric with hand painted necktie stabilizers and handprinted batting. The background is a very slinky apparel fabric that came from my grandmother's house. I stabilized it by fusing it to a layer of fusible fleece and also did the same thing for the back, so there are two layers of fusible fleece. The layered home dec etc. was then appliquéd to the slinky stuff and the whole thing was quilted using holographic/glitter thread alternating with Wonderfil 100 wt. the binding is more of the hand painted tie stabilizer material.

They've both been hanging around on the UFO heap for about a year.

Almost forgot to add that I'm experimenting with skewed shapes so that's why they look out of square, they are.

You are so creative. I always enjoy looking at your projects and I like that you have a memory of your grandmother in one of these.

Rob, those are phenomenal! They are definitely quilt show worthy. Will you be entering them somewhere?
