Some times you can put more than one system on your computer. I use windows xp and my daughter put windows 98 on it and then added windows xp. Some of my software has to have 98, and the newer ones take windows xp.

Yep, dido. I was calling my family asking for their computers with Windows XP so I could continue to use my embroidery program on my Pfaff 7540.

The newer embroidery machines have a USB port in the machine itself...so all you have to do is put your designs on a stick...The Husqvarnia software 3d/4d will work but you have to download the patches from their website...The problem is that Husquvarna no longer supports the card readers and that is a major bummer....

It's not just sewing programs that were affected. I had some games and other programs that won't run on vista. I just upgraded an older computer that still runs xp.

It all works fine now and only cost me $50.00 to have it set up that way.
That's awesome! Don't you have to have enough space for all of those though..and they are usually big!

When my laptop crashed a while back, I just reformatted it and used the recovery disks that came with my computer. Works just fine now...luckily, I had backed it up a few months prior

To lovelyl --- my Hubby agrees with Hobo 2000

If you lived closer he would fix it for you for nothing as he enjoys being able to solve these kinds of problems.
He is retired so jobs like this keep him from the TV.
He could probably have redone your other computer so you wouldn't have to buy a new one.
It is good to have Windows 7 anyway because soon Windows will be bringing out another "NEW AND IMPROVED VERSION "ha ha ! GOOD LUCK but please let all of us know if you get it solved

In my opinion, the best embroidery software out there is Embird. The price is very nice and upgrade costs are minimal. You can download the trial version and play with it.

This happened to me with my Bernina. I only had to buy the upgrade which included the new dongle. The entire program was twice as expensive. The upgrade was $500 where the program itself was $900. The guy at the shop downloaded it all for me.
