Thanks Klue and Okie.

I thought I had an original idea with the Jane made out of fossil ferns, but I did a search and another quilter beat me to it! It looks likes she's using the bright colors, I'm going to stay away from the bright ones and use mostly dark.

it looks nice but i can't believe she's been plugging at this since april 2001 and she's not even close to being finished.

i think she gave up on the idea because she hasn't update the site since feb 2002.

Maybe something happened to her or her family and she has not been able to update it.

The blocks that I enlarged look really good. It appears that she is in the process of letting the color wash from green in the top left corner to bright yellow in the center, then back to green in the bottom right corner. It sure will be pretty when she does get it done.

I'm not really a batik person, but I like the fossil ferns used like this! Bearpaw, your quilt will be really pretty...are you using a "background" fabric...then what other colors will you be using?

Don't know why she stopped. Maybe she just stopped posting.

The background fabric is a fossil fern, kind of a beige/tan color. I'm going for the darker, richer colors, with some lighter ones thrown in.

Is there a limit on the number of fabrics allowed in a block? I was thinking no more than three different ones?

most people have been using 2 or 3 colors.

i think the decision really depends on the block and the person.

some of the jane blocks are extremely intricate with many pieces and would certainly look nice using 4 colors.

We shall see - I just reviewed the "taken" list - and then review the "fabric available" stack

Any problem if I make "my" interpretation of the block? I assure you it will be AT LEAST as accurate as Brenda's interpretation.

you can do what ever you want to the block - this isn't a "jane purist" swap.

everyone can do whatever they need to do to put the block together -

examples: applique even though jane pieced, add a seam even though jane didn't have one there, remove a seam because it doesn't have a purpose other then thats what jane did.

its all about us and how we want to make the blocks. the "jane purist" can get in on the cyber block party in jan.

isn't it - i think jane blocks are so much more fun when you can let all the rules go.
