There is so much divsiveness in thw world. A show and tell at a quilt guild meeting should be a safe place.

That is so mean spirited and unnecessary. The recipient should not feel bad about herself/himself but shrug it off seeing where it is coming from.

It really should! If that was done to me I would probably never go there again, being a newbie, I need constructive suggestions but not harsh criticism.

AWWWWW Shucks, There are always a few ladies who are stuffy nosed.... please tell the quilter we are all on her side and encourage her to forget any bad remarks she heard.
AND
Encourage her to join this board, so she can join the laughter - maybe a Funky swap - and we will encourage her to enjoy her quilting!

If you can't find anything to compliment the quilter on, you can always say, "You must be so proud of yourself!" We should always encourage each other.

I've kept my first quilt as a reminder of where I started. You can bet I don't make disparaging remarks about anyone else's projects because that old quilt reminds me that I could win a "worst quilt contest" in a flash! Of course my quilts have improved but it didn't happen overnight.

So sad too hear. Hope this didn't cause the quilter to not want to show things any more, or not feel welcome at the guild.
