What do you think of converting living room to sewing room?

Our formal living room is my sewing room - great light in there!
For us, it was never purposed as a living room since we bought it 3 years ago.
One bit of caution for rooms with great sunlight...
be sure to remember to protect your fabric from the light.
I'm in the process of replacing open storage in my room to storage cabinets with doors. :)

I am thinking of the same thing. It is currently a room that only the dog sleeps in. He loves sleeping on antique furniture. It has french doors, so no one has to see my mess. Broke my ankle late last spring w/ torn achilles and haven't been able to go up and down the stairs easily. Got a small sewing table and DH brought one machine down and several boxes of fabric...been here a couple of months and I'm thinking it could be my new sewing room.

Yes, I have the living room as a studio. Like you we rarely entertain in the living room. So now I have a studio and can cook or whatever within a few steps of where I am creating. Go for it, my DH said, "hey we live here, if someone doesn't like what we do, they can go home". gotta love that man. grin

So, he suggested that I move my sewing stuff there so I can have another sewing table with my new machine and a separate cutting station. Right now, I'm using a corner of an upstairs bedroom that is also shared by a computer and TV with two recliners (the kid's man-cave when he's home from college). Can't leave anything out - what a pain!
We had a separate dining room that we only cleaned weekly, never used. We converted it into a sewing room. It's 12'x16' and has plenty of room.
Has anybody else done this? How did it affect your home?
Thanks. :)
