personally Like it and I'm not a pink person (the boarder) but it's really one of those "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" things going on here. Just send it to me and I will use it as is! LOL :D

Before I saw the picture of the supposedly ugly quilt, I was thinking that you should use a great backing and use that as the top for the picnic or car quilt. But now that I've seen it, I actually like it. And so much work. I would remove the borders - or at least the brown print border. My thought would be for the black or the darkest brown for the wider border. You've been too hard on yourself. Remove the "offensive" border/s and put it away for a while. When you go back to it with other fabrics to audition, you will find something more to your liking. Then it may not be a utility quilt after all. Good luck.

My two cents...get rid of both borders, add a narrow dark pink or turquoise border and then a wide black border...that will make your colors pop...then either quilt it yourself or pay to have it done professionally. I guarantee you that this will be the quilt that you will not be able to part with for love or money. No one will be laughing when they see it because they will be awestruck!

Holy Cow!! This is beautiful. I'm about to start one and I can only hope mine looks half this good. As for the other one, I have to agree with everyone else. It's beautiful and so is the border. It's just that the border will look more beautiful on another quilt. Good luck and lets see some pictures when you finish it, 'cause I know you will and you will love it when it's done.

In my humble (longarm quilter) opinion, I think once it is quilted up, the texture of the quilting will really bring it to life, and you will love it again. I'll attach a picture, and you can see what I mean. This was quilted with a layer of cotton and a layer of wool batting to make the quilting stand out.

I like the idea of removing the outer border and replacing with a plain or tone on tone color drawn from one of the more prominent colors in your quilt already such as the browns. It would really frame it and tie it all in together - as long as it was in the "darks" family, not a medium tone. You may not need a huge 10" wide border - mine has a 1-1/2" stop border with a 6" outer border. And by the way, nice work!

OK. Get ready. Here it is..........
Wonderful pattern and quilt top, I agree it needs a different border. I would like to also suggest that you add a white border first so that the white around the star is greater, making it more free floating looking. Heavy quilting in the white area would make the star pop. Additonal two boarders should be darker than you have and less busy. Remember many a quilt top is not really someone's pride and joy until it is quilted
