Reading this has been fun! My MIL says "Jesus Crominy". I'm not sure why. I once heard someone say "Rubbish". I loved it. Seems I can't think of that word when I need it. I guess I say "WHATEVER!!!!!" My husband says "Good grief" when he's trying to be nice. ;-)

I don't actually say any words, I have my own highly developed series of gutteral nonsense noises that take the place of potty words. My 5 year old understands them perfectly and, on the rare occasion, has translated for the confused neighborhood kids.

We heard a comedian once use "flocons de mais" as an expletive - french for "corn flakes". With just the right amount of inflection, it can be very satisfying to roll off the tounge.

Thanks for the laughs, I've enjoyed this thread!

I was attending a catechism class - don't remember now if it was the one for 7th and 8th graders or the one for adults - and the discussion/lesson was on "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain . . . ."

and how that sure limits/eliminates the use of a lot of commonly used expressions!!

So we were trying to come up with things that could be said that would be acceptable in that context! (Of course, at that time, I was not familiar with some of the Anglo-Saxon words that are considered vulgar!)

hahahaha! This is where I was headed. The song "La Cucarocha" is a song about the cockroach, so times I say cuca-racha!!! or cock-roach, or sometimes it's cock-a-doodle-do!!!!!! I'm trying to seriously pare down the foul words.
