I was laughing hysterically but now I'm in pain from laughing and tears are streaming down. Yes, it was funny, but even funnier was my husbands reponse .... he just looked at me like he was waiting for the punch line, finally saying "well?".

He admitted he'd have done the same!

You don't have to be married to an engineer for that! Mine is an electrician and I still get it. I was building some tables one day Very simple. three sides and a top. Everything squared up just fine. He comes home and tells me I'm doing it all wrong.
Three years later, who's is still standing??? mine. his fell apart. I love it when a plan comes together. :-D

I have a kitchen island in my sewing room.Took out the cutting table(wanted more room in the middle of the room) store my
accuquilt go & dies in the doors....keep the leaf up on it...cutting
mat on top for cutting, it is the same heighth as cutting table and am making an ironing board top for it so I can press large pieces of fabric there and then store it behind the island......works great for me...

I asked my engineer husband to make a wooden board to cover my board.(I want it removable.) I actually borrowed one to copy. I asked,,,,"Just copy this one. Don't improve on it. Don't change it, just copy it."
Well, he finally did...couldn't use plywood, he made it out of OAK that he found at the Restore shop--pretty heavy but he did listen this time and I've got my board.
I do have a deck outside that 20 elephants can dance on at the same time...anybody want to party? It is so over-designed! I feel your pain!

Unfortunately my construction engineer husband just got laid of yesterday..Looking for work---and in Michigan, that is not an easy task.

I'd say that overthinking is probably pretty independent of level of education actually. And I don't like the use of "over-educated" as an insult!

I work with engineers everyday. They over engineer everything on paper and then it never works in real life anyhow and then I have to fix it. You have my sympathy.
