linny-- i love it! you have really tapped in to a motherlode of my childhood memories! as a little girl i used to peel the bark off the birch trees and put it in our pine needle house and call it toilet paper. we never used it, but no pretend home could be without! thank you so much for the happy jolt. i was missing my mom and this brought back such very happy times.

Nancia- whenever we can evoke thoughts from a happy time it has to be good.......I'm so pleased I could do that.

You are a fount of wisdom! I always thought vinegar and then water rinse would handle that.....better head for the shops, again! lol

Good morning all. I've been following this thread and enjoying all the wonderful info here! Hopefully I'll get some pics posted soon of some things I've been experimenting with. I'm new to "art" quilting, but have been an avid seamstress and quilter for almost 40 years; this is a new endeavor for me and I appreciate all the discussion, sharing and tips here. I've been experimenting with fabric dyeing, trying different embellishments, learning to use Shiva Oil Paintstiks, and anything else I can think of lately. Here's a link to my first Paintstik experiment: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...c-t193775.html Now all I have to do is figure out what to use it for!

The latest tip from Jacquie on where to get the anti chlor is quite timely. I'm getting ready to try some discharging and knew I needed it, but didn't know where to look for it.

Looking forward to spending more time here!!!
