    black and white can be very stark. I think I'd soften it with gray, and add some color, too.

    I did this too but didn't want too much of a zinger so I chose a dark red black.

    How about doing your quilt in black and white as planned and just use your "zinger" color for the binding?

    I just finished piecing a black and white quilt, but decided it needed some thing, so I put in some bright yellow, it looks really good, I will post picture of it soon

    I like to add a zinger too. My faves are bright pink or lime green~

    I love it! When I come up with a new design I usually design it in black, white, and some other color (typically red). But I really like black and white quilts, too. If you want to make just a black and white quilt without the "zinger" then by all means go for it.
