I use it for keeping up with distant family and HS friends. I will say that I REGULARLY check the privacy settings. They tend to make changes to the program that ends up changing how people access your information. Now I'm not a huge privacy freak but I do have pictures of my teen daughter and don't want those floating around the internet. I guess I'm a paranoid mommy :D
Oh....one other thing...you will get people requesting to be your friend, etc. DO NOT RESPOND to them unless you REALLY know them and want to know what is going on in their lives every day (ie: cousins, family, etc.).

I keep up with family and friends that way but we don't share a lot of personal info, mostly pictures. Of course, now they say there are codes embedded in some pictures that can be used to pinpoint exactly where it was taken - scary! I would say, use it, enjoy it and be wary of what you put out there!

I used to log in to play the Farmville game but it got so out of hand after a few months. I still log on occasionally to check up on my DD2 and to see if my other kids have posted any new pics of the grandkids. It's easy to pick up a virus if you start going to the links that are posted all over the place.

Personally, I enjoy it just to be able to keep up with sons that live 50 miles from me that are busy and don't keep in contact with me. Also for family that I have that is spread out across the entire country.
As others have said tho...I never post anything personal out there. And I don't have my phone info listed at all.
IMHO...you have to decide for yourself if you would feel comfortable with it or not. Good luck. :)

I use it. My high school class has all been reunited on it after 42 years! Music friends are my "friends" so I use it basically for reuniting and keeping bonded with old friends.
Keeping in touch individually would be more involved and take time...with FB we are all under one site, so communicating with them thru FB is alot faster/easier.

I use it. Have family and friends all over the world. It's a wonderful way to keep in contact.
*Rule of thumb for me - Don't post anything you wouldn't want printed in the local newspaper. Keeps you out of trouble that way.
