Oh I miss the drive in ! As a kid we would make bags and bags of popcorn, and then wait for it to start to get dark ! The next day cleaning the car out of all the popcorn was the only part I did not like.

Ho, ho, ho! Sure do!!! "Old timey" indeed! Had lots of dates with now deceased hubby. He's been gone 10 yrs now after 35 of wedded bliss. Those were the days!!! Glad there are still some around & there's one about 30 mi from me. My Mom even worked in concession. I was teenager so I'd drive to pick her up around 10. Thanks for sharing.
Hope it turns out to be a great success!!!!!

Yuppers, I remember those well. My teenage years (1969 - 1971) were spent in Grants, NM. And there was a drive in in Milan, a small town beside Grants. I drove right into the ticket booth one night. Those darn cars with the stick shift. We did not get along well, especially that night. Car was stuck in second and reverse.

Yes, I knew immediately what they are, I remember them well. Drive-in movie speakers.

Oh yes! I remember those well! There is a shopping center sitting where the drive in used to be.......I'd rather the drive in was still there! LOL!

Oh, my...the speakers at the drive-in...what memories I have from days gone by. My mom would fix popcorn and hot dogs to take with us. There were 4 us besides my parents. What a grand time we always had. At the drive in we went to they had playground equipment set up in the field below the screen and all the children played there until darkness set in and the movie began. I wonder if there are any drive-ins left somewhere...

LOL! Had a first date at a drive in. Put the speakers in the window and danged if the mosquitoes didn't have a heyday inside the car. So my date took off his socks and shoved them on each side of the speaker. I can tell you honestly the windows were not steamed up because of young nerves and heavy breathing. It was those dang socks!!! Married the guy anyway

How I would love to get my hands on a set of those right now. I have a '41 Ford coupe that I take to car shows and would love to set up a stand with those speakers on it next to the car.
In the town I live in, we had one walk-in and one drive-in, owned by the same person. One open in the winter and one in the summer. When I moved back here in 1984, the drive-in was still open and I took my two young sons to it a couple times before it closed for good. Really wish it were still open.
