For summer quilts, I would use a very thin flannel or non at all.

For very light weight quilts , I like cream white , or cream rose. But do check the recommended stitch distance before making a final selection.

My daughter in CA prefers the Quilter's Dream. DREAM ORIENT it has silk, bamboo, cotton and eucalyptus fibers in it. So soft and light weight.

I love using flannel for batting for summer or winter quilts -- it holds up extremely well (especially for baby quilts), and it wrinkles up nicely when the quilt is washed, too. I don't have to worry about batting bunching up, either. I agree with Tartan - a nice white flannel would work very well behind the eyelet -- or even a very pale yellow, green or pink behind the eyelet would also be nice.

If I am remembering correctly, they were made of a light weight flannel. Am I right? They would also work in place of regular batting.
I have been looking and looking also! We live in Florida and the one we have on our bed we've used for years- it's falling apart! I've gotten some good flannel to make one but it is much denser and thicker than what we have. Could use it for a couple of winter months but not most of the year. Will watch this for a hoped for source!

The summer quilt I made has no batting, just backing.

Oma66, I remember sheet blankets. My mom still has some! You could use a regular flannel sheet. They were on sale last month, but you still might find some at Ross DFL or one of those type of stores.
