Ok now my So Fine is shredding on the top sigh, with my DSM that usually meant change the needle, so I closed up shop for the night. Will address it in the morning. I took a couple photos of the bottom though, the top is too busy especially with my markings, will photograph it when done though.

Both the top and bottom are too tight. Even though this is a HQ machine video... the information is awesome and can apply to any long arm. It's called TNT - Tension Needles Thread.

*giggle* that MUST be a good video!

Carolyn, what KIND of needle are you using? I'm wondering if a Topstitch needle will help with the shredding, if you're not already using one.

If you go here and scroll down, you will see the difference a Topstitch needle could make. I'd stick with the size 18, though.

I always use the same thread in the bobbin as in the top. I also check my bobbin tension with the Towa bobbin gauge at each bobbin change. I do not have tension problems (knock on wood) so wanted to pass on what I do.

Try another thread. I have 2 spools of Superior Rainbows. I hate it. It breaks easily. I contacted Superior (they sent me one of the spools free) and I think it is just the nature of the brute as my mama used to say. I won't ever buy rainbows again.

Had a similar issue on the la I rent at my shop (BL jewel). It turned out to be the thread! Hocked cause I just bought it and its superior king tut. So disappointed. But I finished with no headache once I changed thread.

I find the connecting threads thread awful. I use it only for piecing.

I think to eliminate some of your tension problems you must slow down when doing those pantos! I know it is tempting to whizz along and take those curves at 90mph, but your stitches will show it. Try to keep the same pace thruout....do a fox trot, not a jitterbug (huh?).....oops age showing!

Do you have a stitch regulator? If not, then definitely slow down at the curves. If you still keep having problems, you can always call ABM. They will answer your calls.

I also have an Innova. I have a stitch regulator, but I can still get eyelashes if I go too fast.

There is an innova longarm group on Yahoo groups that you can join. Tension is one of many topics that come up.
