    Here's a picture of my fabric folded onto comic book boards. I really like the way it looks and it makes getting the fabric easier. And if you're looking for fabric to go with a project you can just move your project along the shelf until one of them pops out.

    My fabric shelves look just like ksdot417's... I love comic book backing boards. They are so thin they don't take up space in your fabrics, yet keep everything nice and orderly and right in view. They are the BOMB for quilters. I usually store 1/2 yard to 2 yard pieces on them. Anything bigger gets ruler folded and stacked flat. Anything smaller gets folded up in a scrap collection on a shelf or in a bin.
