So glad this was posted. I'm working on a top right now that needs a little zing. I was going to do a flange, but now I'm going with a narrow border. I will be the one to long arm it, and was thinking of an all over., but didn't think this thru, although I have had issues with those 10 minute blocks before.

I thought the flange was part of the binding process ? so it shouldn't even be on the quilt yet???

A flange can be anywhere on the quilt, frame a center, frame each square, frame border, or be part of the binding. I use grosgrain ribbon a lot for flanges.
