The definition of a blanket is a broad one.

Noun: A large piece of woolen or similar material used as a bed covering or other covering for warmth.

Adjective: Covering all cases or instances: total and inclusive

Verb: Cover completely with a thick layer of something.

IMHO, a quilt falls into the category of a type of blanket. The term quilt is just a bit more descriptive of the type of blanket.

Time to not be upset by the term anymore.

    peace

I grew up in a culture where all bed coverings were sheets or blankets. Then, a formal bedspread was put on top of that. It was removed up and folded at night. All of the bed coverings were what we call quilts because they were made at home by family members or family groups. Som if you want to call my quilts blankets that is just fine with me.

I think this shows us that all quilts are blankets, but not all blankets are quilts!

never derogatory, just uninformed. Doesn't bother me at all. I have no desire to learn golf terms, I don't care how much time she does it...
