Caroline I was looking again at the link to your New Companion and I don't think yours is made by Davis It looks more like a New Home to me. Can you provide a better pic of it so I can be sure. I would hate to send you a Davis manual instead of a New Home manual. My needle plate is square and yours is round. An indication yours is a badged New Home.

Not unusual for Goodwill. The bidding wars get more ridiculous than Ebay sometimes. Maybe people feel they're supporting a good cause.

I do too, nice clean Deco lines, but I only have room for one desk when I get it so it's going to be a Singer #42. That would be my other choice though.
I just watched a Singer one go by locally (Portland maybe?) at $30. That hurt but there will be others.
