One gets a sewing room when the home becomes an empty nest
Unless the quilter is the person who moved out and the empty nesters need the assistance but...they have been the ones to spread out and claim every available inch in the house. LOLOLOL

I have a great sewing room, with a walkin closet for all my fabrics and books. Nice to be able to close the door when I'm in a project. ;)

When we bought our house 3 years ago, I didn't really like it all that much, BUT it had a 12x33' finished room in the basement with 2 windows and a carpeted floor. I wasn't a quilter at the time, but I did love crafts and cross stitch. So we bought the house, gutted it and renovated to our tastes. Now that I'm quilting, I;m so excited to have a room that's cut off from the rest of the house where I can go and make as many messes as I want!

I do. My husband when he was healthy, turned the spare bedroom into a craft/sew room for me. He ripped up the carpet and put down a hardwood floor. Bought two 6x3 ft. wooden cabinets and two 6x2x3 cupboards, and one 2x3 with drawers. I have all my paint and my easel, my saws and tools mounted on pegboard on the wall... and he widened the closet for my sewing machine, with shelves overhead for thread and stuff. It is my home in my home. LOL. I love that room sooooo much.

I have one whole room dedicated to quilting/sewing. I really love it that way. But I will be moving very soon. Actually, I should be packing instead of being on the board, lol. We will most likely be moving somewhere smaller, so I hope I will still be able to have a dedicated room.

I don't know why I don't have one! lol We have a 4 bedroom house and all the kids are gone. I have the bedrooms turned into an office/my t.v. rooom and a guest room. I have thought about turning my t.v. room into a sewing area but I think its too small for everything I have.
I may convert the "medium" size bedroom the one I use for an office into an office/sewing room later.
As of now I am doing my sewing on the kitchen table and I am happy there!
