Anyone near Ithaca,NY, I just saw a Singer 15 and a green Singer, probably 185 model at the Salvation Army store, both in cabinets and I think for $25 each. The 185 needed a new belt, and was very stiff to move, but the 15 seemed pretty good.

If the 185 is just stiff it can be fixed. Those are pretty cool.

I love going through here looking at all the older sewing machines. They are just beautiful. I learned to sew on my grandma's Singer Treadle sewing machine. When she got a motorized Singer I was scared of it, because it went to fast.

Yep, you are right Candace! I have tons of those feet too, but they are not fun! I am intrigued by the anomaly type machines! I am still bummed that I did not get that machine since it was made to only 'embellish!' How fun would that be to play with!

Geeze, after watching a demo on U-tube, I am so bummed I didn't buy the machine! I had never seen an embellishment machine. It has a bobbin and sews down ribbon, yarn, etc., not an actual sewing machine - not a felter, just an embellishment embroidery machine!

Any sewing machine with the proper foot is an embellisher. I think that's why these machines tanked in sales....who wants to take up all that room for a separate machine when your sewing machine does the exact same thing. Couching feet, cording feet and ribbon/embellishing feet are all available for most manufacturers. I know I have most of the feet for my Janome and Bernina has scads of them.

Hope everyone is having a good evening. Attached are pictures of my first treadle. The belt is in one of the drawers. Unfortunately I had to pack it before I could play with it. We are getting ready to move next month so it went from the Jeep to the trailer. I am going to go out tomorrow and get the serial number off it. It will probably be after the first of they year before I can set her up and get her going.
