    Color two- Cut 2 blocks 14 1/4"
    Corner color- cut 4 blocks 14 1/4"

Take one each of the 14 1/4" block colors and match up to picture. Mark a diagonal line down. Sew 1/4" on either side. Trim on the diagonal. You now have 2 hst. Press. Trim to 12 1/2" square.

    You will need:

    4 corner color/color 1 combinations
    4 corner color/color 2 combinations
    4 color 1/color 2 combinations
    4 corner color

Quilt also appears to have a 4" border on top and bottom. This will make the finished size- 48" x 56". A very nice size baby quilt.

If I have the time to whip one together, I would do it, but it's off to a family reunion this morning. I made some notes on this for myself- I need a fast baby quilt and this fits the bill!!! Thanks for posting the pic!

Thanks for doing all the figuring... I'd add borders til it is twin sized, though, since I tend to give away quilts for kids--more than babies. I have another lady who sends me baby sized quilts to give away to the young ones (2 and under). The older kids want "big kid" sized quilts.

I'll try this. I have some kiddo fabric that would work just great.

oh- the border top and bottom- add the seam allowance- cut it 4 1/2". Then I looked again- there's another border all around- looks like 2", which makes it 1 1/2" finished.

Going to make this later I need a quilt for a baby due any day now.

Love this! Thanks for posting! I don't like triangles (because I am not good enough at them yet!) but I think I will try this one....

According to my EQ program, for the half square triangles you would cut your squares at 12 7/8" then cut once on the diagonal and sew together to get your 12.5" HST, then your plain squares are cut at 12.5" (finish would be 12" blocks). Mine has a 3" border then my binding. and measures 56x56

Thanks, your math looks good to me. I'm going to cut the squares that you make the triangles 15 or 15.25". I always have to trim my HSTs and sewing one this big might give me extra problems. Need more wiggle room

    :-P

    @Paper Princess-
15" is really overkill. Barbm's 14" already has plenty of extra fabric.
Remember, the exact measurement would be 12 7/8", so the 14" really allows for a lot of extra to trim down.

I would suggest using a bit of starch and ironing the 2 squares (rights sides together) - that way they won't shift while you draw the line, sew the 2 seams or cut them apart.

It's amazing how quickly these go together - really in an afternoon. Even without any border (at 48") it's still a great baby quilt.

And if you wanted a smaller quilt, or smaller blocks in a larger quilt, just make the HST's blocks smaller.
