I don't roll, I "scrunch" and don't try to go any further than the center. It works for me, and it only cost me $400 on eBay a couple of years ago.
Problem is, I'm new to fmq and I've been trying and trying. I scrunch too but I'm still no good at it although I do a little better when I don't have to scrunch so much. I know in my lifetime I will never be as good as some of the fm quilter's on this board but I do want it to be presentable which it is not at this point...guess I was born to be a hand quilter only.

They do make a table mounted long arm machine. Do give them a call since some manufactures prohibit publishing pricing on the internet.

Here is another just so you get a feel for pricing.

Check out Pennywinkle Farms. I have their Sunshine 16 which is essentially a stripped down 16" longarm that can either be used on top of a table with the accompanying tabletop extension or set into a table approximately the size of a card table that sits on industrial rollers for easy moving. They have more computerized versions, but the totally computer free one cost me under $2000 a few years ago. The only reason I know about them is that I saw them at a show I was vending at. I had been looking for years and was in the same quandary as yourself.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this machine for both piecing and FMQing!!! And it runs just under $1000.
I agree 100%! I have this Juki and it is a marvel! I bought online for $800 two years ago. A friend of mine bought one off of Craigslist a year ago for $800 and it came with a quilting frame! I see lots of quilting machines on Craigslist and if you are persistant, you can find amazing deals. People buy them, then don't use them or don't have room.

Th BHQ doesn't have to be on a frame. It doesn't have wheels and they show it on a table on their site.
