I have a Viking machine and the manual says, when winding the bobbin not to wind specialty threads such as invisible or other stretchy threads from the needle. You might want to check you manual to see if yours has any special instructions about winding invisible thread on the bobbin.

Glad you weren't hurt with the flying bobbin. I haven't heard of that happening before, but there's a first time for everything. I have had pretty decent luck with the invisible thread, but the other day it kept breaking on me so I went back to regular thread. I had one quilter that she uses the invisible thread in both top and bobbin without a problem, but it really depends on what your machine will tolerate. I hope you try again and that you have better results.

I just took a class on invisible machine applique with Karen Kay Buckley and she told us not to use plastic bobbins for invisible thread. They are known to cause problems. We did use invisible thread in the bobbin. SHe also told us not to fill the bobbin full with it. If you ever get the chance to take one of her classes I highly recommend it. She is a wonderful teacher.

I thread invisible on my bobbin, it seems to be the only way my machine works with invisible. But then I also use metal cases and go slow winding it. I am glad you weren't hurt by your bobbin pop. It's been my experience that the thread pops easily. Must have been a cracked bobbin.
