    How small??? I am growing it for the first time and have not clue - have only seen it chopped up in gumbos and such!

    I like 'em when pods are 2 - 4" long. If they are tender, I have been known to eat a pot 6" or longer right down to the stem end. They don't have to be that small for corn bread salad - they're fine just as long as they're easy to slice - just like you were going to fry.
