I, like onebyone, bought my GO early on and have accumulated dies as I found sales, deals, etc. that was before accucuilt put the control on pricing. If I were to buy now, I probably would invest in one of the Qubes/companion deals......then add on as "sales" or "really want". My stash of dies is quite large, and I have also invested in sizix big shot....some of their dies were better priced, but I must warn those who use Sizzix dies......their "assembled" size vs. "finished" size may be that 1/4" difference....

By mats, if you mean the plastic sheet that you put on top of the die before you run it through, I was able to buy those at a local plastics company for much less. I took in one I had and ordered some in different sizes.

My Go was getting hard to crank and making a bad sound then it stopped turning at all. DH put new bearings on the rollers. It rolls like spreading butter now. He said it was well built. All the moving parts were metal and very easy to repair.

I've got the dies for 1 1/4 to 2 1/2 inch strips. There are marks on the strip dies that will let you cut small squares, etc/

I have all the dies to cut down a 4 inch block to a 2 inch. Like you, I like minis. 1 charm makes 4 2 1/2" squares.

Check out the YouTube videos made by Ebony Love of Love Bug Studio. She shows you how to mark, store and maintain your dies; how to place the fabric on them to get the best cuts an minimize waste; and lots of other tips and techniques on all the versions of Accuquilt cutters. She also publishes books on die cutting that are very helpful. There is a Facebook group called Accuquilt and Beyond that you can join. There is a lot of information and help available there from friendly/helpful people. There is also an Accuquilt sales group on Facebook where you can buy new and used dies.

If you do your research and watch the videos available, you will be able to fully use the Go Big and enjoy every minute of it. For those of use with aging joints and other medical issues, these cutters are wonderful. I have a Studio and it's one of the best "tools" in my sewing room. The cutting dies can be expensive, however, if you compare the cost of buying several replacement rotary cutter blades versus buying a die one time, I think you'll find it could be a better bargain.

unfortunately that "sale" price is the same as on accuquilt site, the difference, however, is free shipping...that's usually when I order, the shipping cost can be high!
